Installation Notes
Unlike Windows 10 or Windows 11, Windows 8.1 does not allow the product key step to be skipped during setup. Installation cannot continue without entering a key.
Microsoft, however, provides generic installation keys that allow the setup process to complete. These keys do not activate Windows 8.1. The installed edition—such as Core, Pro, or Enterprise—depends on the key used.

How to create a Windows 8.1 bootable USB
As Windows 8.1 is an older system, it is often used for testing. Creating a bootable USB for running tests on multiple computers is usually unnecessary and time-consuming.
You can instead useiBoysoft DiskGeeker for Windows to clone the OS partition (C: drive) of an existing Windows 8.1 computer. This produces a bootable copy that can be used on multiple compatible PCs without additional setup.
Steps
- Connect a clean USB drive or external hard drive to the Windows 8.1 computer.
Ensure the drive capacity exceeds the size of the OS partition, otherwise cloning will fail. - Download, install, and launch iBoysoft DiskGeeker for Windows.
